Chef Nti and Lorna Maseko shine the spotlight on Mzansi flavour
Celebrated foodies and media personalities Chef Nti and Lorna Maseko are back on the small screen with more drool-worthy food content and we are so here for it.
The award-winning duo who both have successful cookbooks in their belts have bagged new shows and if like us, you're a lover of good food content, you're gonna wanna read on.
Chef Nti is returning to Food Network with a new show, Celebrate with Chef Nti.
Speaking to the media at the launch of the programme, Chef Nti, whose real name is Nthabiseng Ramaboa, invited everyone to come on a journey with her.
"Celebrate with Chef Nti is a moment to celebrate because of everything we have gone through, to have a moment to celebrate,” she said.
Chef Nti told the Citizen she wants viewers to be able to open their pantries and cook special dishes with what they already have at home.
Although tends to infuse her recipes with Mediterrreana and Asian cuisine, you will always find “that Soweto girl" as she calls it, in the recipes.
This is not Chef Nti's first production with Food Network. Her first show with the channel, Street Food in Africa was loved by many throughout the continent.
On the show, she explored different kinds of dishes on the streets and took them to her kitchen where she gave them a modern twist.
Many did however feel that it lacked the feel of the actual street culture and aesthetic but with Covid-19 restrictions and lockdown levels, we were happy to have fresh content and Chef Nti delivered nonetheless.
You could be forgiven for labelling the cookbook author as a booked and busy queen because she actually is. Her other show, Celebrity Mystery Box is still airing on Mzansi Magic.
Come 23 March, BBC Lifestyle will premier media personality and cook, Lorna Maseko's new show, Homegrown Tastes South Africa
The show looks at food from gourmet cuisine to urban street food culture. It also delves deeper by looking at ingredients unique to a region, sustainability in the food sector and fynbos foraging. Every place Lorna travels to has an interesting story that celebrates food, flavour and technique.
Lorna is of course not new to the small screens.
In 2014 she took part in the celebrity version of MasterChef South Africa. She also hosted Top Chef SA and had her own cooking show, The Hostess with Lorna Maseko, on SABC3.
Celebrate with Chef Nti airs on food Network channel 175 every Sunday at 4:50 pm.
Homegrown Tastes South Africa airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm on BBC Lifestyle channel 174.
Their books, Chef Nti's My Modern African Kitchen and Lorna's Celebrate with Lorna Maseko, are available at book stores nationwide.
