Emazulwini meets Les Créatifs as Chef Mmabatho cooks up a storm in Jozi

Renowned chef Mmabatho Molefe will, on Saturday 27 August, cook up a storm in the Les Créatifs kitchen in Brynston and it will be one for the books.

Dubbed Memories Of My Childhood, the "takeover" which is also her first cook in Joburg, is part of the restaurant's women's month celebration and will take the form of a 4-course meal with wine pairing.

Les Créatifs is the brainchild of Chef Wandile Mabaso, Mzansi's creative food artist full of global experiences. He's worked with internationally renowned chefs in Michelin star restaurants in New York and Paris.

He opened the doors to his first restaurant in August 2019.

The restaurant prides itself in being the first of its kind in South Africa where fine dining meets a world-class wine list, cocktails, visual art, outstanding décor interior design and ceramic art in an exclusive dining space.

Chef Mmabatho is the powerhouse behind Cape Town's Emazulwini Restaurant, a modern Zulu-inspired restaurant which seeks to celebrate Nguni cuisine and South African ingredients.

She penned a heartwarming tribute to chef Wandile.

"It’s not often that a chef opens up their kitchen to you and allows you full reign. For them [to] not only say 'I support what you do but I support it enough to share it with my community'. Super grateful that chef Wandile has allowed me to share a small piece of myself for the first time in Joburg.

"We are sealing off Women’s Month, the end of my Joburg hideout and finally getting me back in a professional kitchen after a full 25 days of bed rest," she wrote on Instagram.

Emazulwini closed its doors for the month of August while they "work on something exciting".

Chef Wandile will get to be the guest chef in his kitchen while chef Mmathabo takes full reign for the evening.

Service starts at 6 pm.

The restaurant is at the Hobart Grove Centre in Brynston.

Bookings can be made on 068 182 7929.
